This is a commissioned concept art for a project called "Dinoworld" - [link]. Scarface is Deinonychus with extremely agressive behaviour due to it's solitary hard life. When banished from White Eye's pack it got deep claw wounds on the left side of the face. Scarface plays the role of the main dinosaur antagonist in the story (which take place on another planer).

Believe it or not this concept is actually based on the real animal, and Scott Hartman's :iconshartman: skeletal drawing [link] was used as reference. Any divergences from the actual anatomy of Deinonychus is due to the specifics of story and project's original concept (like the color of its feathers for example).

Medium: Watercolors.
Done: 2013.

This is cool.
Have you considered doing free request.

Thanks!

I don't do free requests anymore. The only case in which I may reconsider this, is if it's a request for an illustration for a scientific paper or something like that.

Do you know ANYONE that does free request????

I don't know. There are plenty of paleoartists on DA, and probably some of them will be willing to take a request.

What about books?

If it's serious technical/scientific book or textbook, then I'll probably agree to make an illustration for free. But if it's a popular book, like an encyclopedia or something, then no free artworks from me.

I like it, its old jp-style with modern feathering, exept for the wings then of course.

Well, it's not directly based on JP raptors, I used Scott Hartman's skeletal drawing of Deinoychus as reference, but it turned out quite similar. Of course the reason is not the reference but me. Maybe all these years of drawing JP fan art still have their grip on me.
