Miragaia longicollum by T-PEKC Miragaia longicollum by T-PEKC
Reconstruction of Miragaia longicollum, the "sauropod-mimic" stegosaur from the Late Jurassic of Portugal. The arrangement of plates and spikes, as well as the shape of the dorsal plates, is speculative due to the incompleteness of the fossil material from this dinosaur. Here, I have depicted the plates as covered by more extensive keratinous sheet which changes their shape.

Great to see all your wonderful reconstructions of stegosaurs other than Stegosaurus itself... they are such a visually fascinating group, and deserve to be better known... your fine artworks do them justice, and capture something of the elegance and formidable power of stegosaurs as a group. Awesome gallery!

I love the fact that you always try and draw your dinosaurs from angles that are different and/or pose them actually doing something besides just standing there. :D

I'm trying to do this, because I've done plenty of typical side-view reconstructions in the past, and these seem to be really overdone nowdays. Also I think that most people appreciate non-side-view paleoart more.
